3 bedroom house
Beautifully renovated ceiling mouldings and bespoke, hand-painted fitted joinery in the lounge, a gorgeous quirky shaped kitchen enveloped in rich blue – and a clever staircase design. By changing the shape of the stairs, we have unlocked heaps of precious space and introduced a ‘flow’ to the whole property.
Our long-standing client, Nova got us involved pre-purchase, having spotted the potential of this spacious but unmodernised Victorian conversion, but recognising it would need a really full and carefully planned renovation. Our first step was to produce designs to open up and reconfigure throughout, utilising every inch of usable space.
We appointed our usual architects and structural engineers to design the technical detail for the reworked staircase, transforming the configuration of the whole house. We spent a long time intricately designing beautiful joinery for each room that maximised the use of the unusual spaces and the various nooks and crannies the previous conversion had created. Next, we worked with our regular kitchen designers to design and equip the kitchen and were able to create two luxurious bathrooms, one being an ensuite, meticulously designed to nestle underneath a staircase.
We appointed a contractor and project managed the works, trouble-shooting various structural, drainage and damp issues as we encountered them. The electrical and plumbing installations were idiosyncratic when we started work – these have been brought fully up to date (with a new water supply to the property) with underfloor heating in key areas. Lighting and colour palettes throughout were carefully chosen to create an individual personality to each room whilst staying true to the clients relaxed yet stylish aesthetic. This was achieved with quirky yet practical features such as the sliding barn doors that effortlessly divide the kitchen and lounge spaces. Our contractors lived up to our exacting standards in producing a really fantastic finish throughout – the clients are delighted with the transformation.
