House and Garden Show 2017

By June 30, 2017August 8th, 2017Knowledge & Tips

We had a whizz around the House & Garden UK show on a gorgeous sunny day where beauty and tranquillity were the strongest themes.  Following the tragic events in the UK of the first half of the year, the show provided a continuation of the sense of calm solidarity with which the British people have met them.  It also provides a platform upon which to celebrate both British design and designers from across the globe.  Shows such as these inspire new ideas, showcase ingenuity and allow designers like ourselves to expand their network within a diverse design community.  We are pleased to present some of our favourite picks from the show –

We loved the intricate wallpaper and beautiful wooden furniture from 2LovelyGays and the continuing theme of zoological ‘objets d’art’ from Tawianese studio Haoshi, in particular the unusual take on the wall clock.

We were delighted to see former Absolute supplier, Gautier, again, especially their clever, slimline, fully disguised wallbed in different finishes

Benchmark London’s stand showed our favourite 2017 colours, sage and salmon, with natural wood and luxurious fabrics; we also liked slightly more glossy brand BoConcept’s fluted mirror and console table.

Interesting lighting brands at the show were J.A.M.S Ironwork, Dyke & Dean (great enamelled shades and lighting accessories – decorative cabling and bulb holders) and sophisticated Moroccan lamps from https://www.influxdesignltd.com

Our favourite stand was innovative Pakistani designer Kohr’s brass and inlay furniture – a logical (and beautiful) extension of the hugely popular brass and marble combination.

Great idea from Cool Radiators – radiators covers as an update on the traditional ‘boxed in’ radiator covers with decorative mesh.

Finally, Cat found herself accidentally buying some lovely decorative pieces from StolenForm and ethical luxury brand Claribel.
